Pickin’ With Pano: NFL Week 16 (MNF Edition)

Back with a vengeance in NFL Week 16, the ‘Peoplez Picker’ David Panosian, flew through Sunday’s games going 3-1. It seems like “America’s Team” suits Dallas fine, as Tony Romo somehow affects most of America each week. Whether it’s playing the line, or adjusting your fantasy lineup, the QB is an enigma outside of just Cowboys fans. Tonight is a very special game in San Francisco, which happens to be Pano’s hometown. See what makes it so symbolic for him, and who he is picking. Good luck, and make sure to check back for next weeks picks…

Week 16 Record: 3-1
Season To Date: 17-11

Falcons Niners MNF
Atlanta Falcons (+14.5) at San Francisco 49’ers, MNF 8:30pm ESPN:

The Atlanta Falcons head to San Francisco to face off with the 49ers in what looks to be their final game at Candlestick Park, barring an unlikely opportunity to host a playoff game (which is theoretically possible, though not probable). On a personal level, my favorite Candlestick memory came in late November of 1987, when my dad took a very excited 8 year old to the ‘Stick to watch the 49ers take on a very talented Browns team, on a cold Sunday Night. Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Charles Haley, and Ronnie Lott (just to name a few) were some of the stars of that team, and they won 38 to 20. Many historic players and games have been played at this stadium, and a part of me will be sad once the Monday Night Football game ends, because in all likelihood this will be it. Enough of the nostalgia, and thanks for sticking with me. I know the Falcons have had a very disappointing season, but this 14.5 point spread seems pretty high. The Falcons still have nice weapons on offense; Matt Ryan, Steven Jackson, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzalez are very effective. The 49’ers defense is very good, to be sure, but I think the Falcons can have marginal success. Please don’t misunderstand me, I am totally projecting a 49’ers win. But I do think the Falcons can stay within 10 points. The Falcons were able to win last week, so they do enter the game with some momentum. Take the points here, and enjoy what I am sure will be many flashbacks of the greatest sports moments ever to occur at the ‘Stick. I know I will!.
